Terms of service

Last updated 5 November 2026.

These terms are the agreement between you and Netbase Media Ltd. (Netbase Media Kft.), 2141 Csömör, Nagy Sándor str. 46., Hungary, EU VAT number HU24994356 ("LinkRot", "we"), for the use of linkrot.io and app.linkrot.io (the "service"). By paying for a plan, opening an account or using the free check you accept them. If you use LinkRot for a company, you accept them on its behalf.

The short version

1. The service

LinkRot monitors the links you add to your account: it downloads the page each link is on, checks whether the link is still there and how it is marked, and reports changes on your dashboard and by email. Once a month it also looks up whether Google shows the page. The features are described on the website as they are at the time; we improve, change and sometimes remove features as the product develops.

The service is a business tool. You must be at least 18 and able to enter into a contract.

2. Your account

You sign in with a link sent to your email address, so whoever controls that mailbox controls the account. Keep it secure and tell us at once if you think someone else has access. An account is for one person or one business; do not share it publicly or resell access to it. You are responsible for what happens in your account.

3. Plans and limits

Each plan includes a number of monitored links, shown on the pricing section and on your Subscription page. When you reach the limit you cannot add more links until you remove some or move to a bigger plan. Opening several accounts to get around a limit is not allowed.

Checks run about once a day for each link and about once a month for the Google lookup. These are targets, not guarantees: a check can be late or missed when a page is slow, blocks us, or when a provider we depend on has a problem.

4. Payment, renewal and cancellation

Payments are handled by Stripe. Prices are in US dollars and exclude taxes unless stated otherwise; VAT or sales tax is added where the law requires it.

Subscriptions (Starter and Pro, monthly or yearly) renew automatically for the same period at the price then in force until you cancel. You can cancel at any time in the billing portal linked from your Subscription page, or by writing to us. Cancelling stops future charges; your plan stays active until the end of the period you already paid for, and there is no refund for the unused part of a period except as section 5 says.

Price changes. We may change subscription prices. We will email you at least 30 days before a new price applies to you, and it only applies from your next renewal. If you do not agree, cancel before that renewal.

Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails and is not settled after the retries, the plan ends. Your links and history are kept, but nothing is checked and no emails are sent until a plan is active again.

5. Refunds

You can ask for a full refund within 14 days of your first payment for any plan, including Founding Lifetime, without giving a reason. The same applies within 14 days of a yearly renewal charge. Monthly renewals are not refunded; cancel to stop the next one. Write to [email protected] from the address of your account. A refund ends the plan it paid for.

If you are a consumer in the EU or the UK, you also have a legal right to withdraw from an online purchase within 14 days. You ask us to start the service immediately when you pay; if you withdraw within those 14 days we still refund the full amount.

6. Founding Lifetime

Founding Lifetime is a one-time payment with no renewal. It is offered for a limited number of seats and we may close the offer at any time.

What it includes. Monitoring of up to 300 links in one account, with the checks, alerts and reports that our standard paid plan includes at the time. It does not include a larger link limit, separate products, paid add-ons or higher plans we may introduce later; if you want those, the usual price applies.

What "lifetime" means. It means for as long as we operate the LinkRot service. It is not a promise that LinkRot will exist for any minimum time, and it is not tied to your lifetime or to the life of our company.

Changes to the service. LinkRot depends on other companies for hosting, email delivery, payment processing, search data and text processing, and on websites allowing their pages to be read. We may change, replace, limit or remove a feature when a provider changes its terms or prices, stops offering what we rely on, or when a feature can no longer be run at a reasonable cost. The Google lookup and the automatic reading of pasted import text are examples of features that exist only as long as the provider behind them does. As long as the service operates, the core of it, regular checks of your links and a report of what changed, stays part of Founding Lifetime.

If the service ends. We may discontinue LinkRot. If we do, we will email you at least 60 days before the service stops and give you a copy of your link list and check history on request. If the service stops within 12 months of your purchase, we refund the part of the price that corresponds to the months of those 12 that are left. After 12 months no refund is due.

If the service changes hands. We may transfer LinkRot to another company. The new operator takes over these terms, including your Founding Lifetime access.

Inactive accounts. If nobody has signed in to a Founding Lifetime account for 24 months, we may pause its checks and emails after writing to the account address. Signing in starts them again; nothing is deleted because of a pause.

Not transferable. Founding Lifetime belongs to the account that bought it. It cannot be sold, split or moved to someone else, except that we will move it to the new owner on request when the business that uses it is sold or merged.

Ending it. We may close a Founding Lifetime account that breaks these terms (section 12). Outside the cases described in this section and in section 5, the payment is not refundable.

7. Acceptable use

8. Your data

The links, prices, notes and other details you enter are yours. You give us permission to store and process them to run the service for you, which includes sending page addresses to the providers that help us check them. We do not sell or publish your link list. How we handle personal data is described in the privacy policy.

You are responsible for the accuracy of what you enter and for having the right to enter it. Write to us if you want a copy of your data or want your account deleted.

9. What LinkRot does not promise

LinkRot reports what a public page returned to our checker at the time of a check. A verdict can be wrong: a site may block automated visitors, show different content to different visitors, load links with scripts, or be temporarily down. "Not found in Google" is a warning based on a search result, not proof that a page was removed from Google's index. Amounts are based on the prices you enter and, where currencies differ, on European Central Bank reference rates, so totals are estimates.

Nothing in the service is legal, financial or SEO advice, and we do not promise any effect on rankings, traffic or revenue. Check the page yourself before you act on a verdict, especially before you ask a seller for a refund or a replacement.

The service is provided as it is and as available. We do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or free of errors, and we may suspend it for maintenance or security reasons.

10. Our content

The LinkRot name, logo, mascot, website, software and texts belong to us. You may use the service as these terms allow; you may not copy, resell or reverse engineer it. If you send us feedback, we may use it without owing you anything.

11. Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost profit, lost revenue, lost rankings or traffic, lost data, or indirect or consequential damage, and our total liability for all claims relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event that caused the damage, or, for Founding Lifetime, to the price you paid for it.

We are not responsible for failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, including outages or changes at hosting, network, email, payment or data providers, and websites that block or change how they answer our checks.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for intentional harm, gross negligence, death or personal injury, or any liability that cannot be limited by law, and nothing takes away rights that consumer law gives you.

12. Suspension and closing an account

You can stop using LinkRot at any time and ask us to delete your account.

We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, that is used for fraud or abuse, or whose payment was reversed. Where the problem can be fixed we will tell you first and give you a reasonable time to fix it. When an account is closed for breaking these terms, no refund is due beyond section 5.

After a plan ends we keep your links and history so you can come back; we delete them when you ask us to, and we may delete accounts that have had no active plan for 24 months after writing to the account address.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change matters to you, we will email the account address at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you do not agree, you can cancel before that date; using the service after it means you accept the new terms. A change never removes a refund that was already due to you.

14. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of Hungary, and the Hungarian courts have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live and you may also bring a claim there. Consumers in Hungary may turn to the conciliation board (békéltető testület) of their county.

If a part of these terms turns out to be invalid, the rest stays in force. Please write to us first: most problems are solved with one email.
